Rescheduled Workshop Meetings

Sharon City Council has rescheduled the October and November 2019 Workshop Meetings. The new meeting times will be: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 AND Wednesday, November 13, 2019. The meetings will be held at 6:30 PM in Council Chambers, Sharon Municipal Building, 155 West Connelly Boulevard, Sharon, PA 16146.

Public Hearing

Sharon City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 6:30 PM in Council Chambers, 155 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, PA. The purpose of the hearing is the final reading of two (2) Ordinances: approving editing and inclusion of certain Ordinances as part of the Codified Ordinances, and; amending the Articles of Incorporation of the City of Sharon Industrial Development Authority to extend its term an additional 50 years.

Passed Ordinance

Notice is given that on August 21, 2019 the Sharon City Council adopted an Ordinance providing for the vacating and abandoning of a public road known as Hickory Street. The Ordinance was not amended during final passage. The Ordinance was titled and can be summarized as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHARON, COUNTY OF MERCER, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, PROVIDING FOR THE VACATING AND ABANDONING OF A PUBLIC ROAD KNOWN AS HICKORY STREET, RUNNING GENERALLY EAST AND WEST AND BEGINNING AT ITS POINT OF INTERSECTION WITH THE EAST LINE OF VINE AVENUE THENCE PROCEEDING IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION TO ITS DEAD END AND BEING FORTY (40) FEET IN WIDTH AND FOUR HUNDRED FOURTEEN (414) FEET IN LENGTH MORE OR LESS.

Any person interested may appeal to the Court of Common Pleas of Mercer County, Pennsylvania, within thirty (30) days after final passage of this Ordinance.

Passed Ordinance 07-19

Notice is given that on July 17, 2019 the Sharon City Council adopted an Ordinance authorizing the incurrence of $355,000.00 General Obligation Non-Electoral Debt. The price bid by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Bank for the City’s Note was 2.625% fixed rate, at Par. The Ordinance was not amended during final passage. The Ordinance was titled and can be summarized as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHARON, COUNTY OF MERCER, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, AUTHORIZING THE INCURRING OF INDEBTEDNESS BY THE CITY OF SHARON, MERCER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, BY THE ISSUANCE OF A $355,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION NOTE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS TO PAY FOR CORRECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF CURBING AND SIDEWALKS AT INTERSECTIONS TO MAKE THEM ADA COMPLIANT; FIXING THE FORM, DATE, INTEREST AND MATURITY THEREOF; MAKING SALE THEREOF AT PRIVATE SALE; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF DEBT SERVICE THEREON; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY THEREOF; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO ADVERTISE THE ADOPTION OF THIS ORDINANCE IN THE MANNER PROVIDED BY LAW; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO SUBMIT THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS TO THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR APPROVAL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE UNIT DEBT ACT.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES TO THE CITY OF SHARON FIREFIGHTERS’ PENSION PLAN

Subsection 288.12, entitled Applicable Provisions of the Internal Revenue Code, is amended to update the Firefighters’ Pension Plan documentation for the most recent IRS requirements.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES TO THE CITY OF SHARON POLICE PENSION PLAN AND POLICE NEW HIRE ADDENDUM

Subsections 286.06(d) and 287.06(d) are revised to reflect the survivor pension for the disability pension as set forth in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the City of Sharon Police Officers.

Section 286.12, entitled Applicable Provisions of the Internal Revenue Code, is amended to update the Police Pension Plan documentation for the most recent IRS requirements.

On-Call Snow Plow Drivers with CDL and Class B

The City of Sharon, PA, is accepting resumes for seasonal part-time, on-call Snow Plow Driver positions. Applicants must be available as weather conditions dictate, possess a valid CDL with Class B Endorsements, have an acceptable driving record, and have a minimum of two years' experience driving a plow truck, or equivalent type vehicle. Hourly pay is $15 per hour with no benefits provided.
